NYSLGITDA Code of Conduct
NYSLGITDA is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all attendees at our conferences, meetings – online and in person –, email, chat, and any other gatherings or communications. We are committed to ensuring that everyone—regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, politics or any other characteristic—feels safe and valued.
All attendees, including speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and guests, are expected to uphold this Code of Conduct. Failure to comply may result in expulsion from the event without refund, and future attendance may be prohibited.
Expected Behavior
Attendees are expected to:
- Treat all individuals with respect, consideration, and professionalism.
- There is an expectation that members conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment, free from harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior.
- Engage in thoughtful, constructive discussions and respect differing perspectives.
- Follow event schedules and adhere to guidelines set by organizers.
- Use appropriate and professional language, avoiding derogatory or discriminatory remarks.
- Communicate courteously and professionally, refraining from personal attacks or insults.
- Honor personal space and physical boundaries.
- Report any violations of this Code of Conduct to event organizers.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding NYSLGITDA member-shared information. Sharing content with non-members is strictly prohibited.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following actions will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the event:
- Harassment, discrimination, or bullying based on any personal characteristic.
- Threats, intimidation, or any form of coercion.
- Physical or verbal abuse, assault, or aggressive behavior.
- Use of offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory language or slurs.
- Sexual harassment, including unwelcome advances, comments, or gestures.
- Intrusion into personal space, including unwarranted touching or crowding.
- Disruption of sessions or activities, such as interrupting speakers or creating disturbances.
- Vandalism, theft, or unauthorized use of property.
- Unauthorized recording or live streaming of event sessions, speaker presentations, or performances.
Reporting Violations
If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, report it immediately to a NYSLGITDA Board Member. All reports will be handled with confidentiality and taken seriously to ensure appropriate action.
